Developing relations with Vietnam reaches consensus in Hungary

Budapest (VNA) – Hungary’s senior leaders showed a consensus on developing friendship with Vietnam at their meetings in Budapest on September 7 with Politburo member and head of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission Truong Thi Mai.

While receiving Mai, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary and head of the national executive board of the Hungarian Civic Alliance (Fidesz) Kover Laszlo spoke highly of the visit made by the CPV delegation and the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two parties.

He shared experience of the Fidesz and the National Assembly in helping the country overcome economic difficulties and social disorders.

He expressed his belief that the official visit to Vietnam by Prime Minister and Fidesz President Viktor Orban later this month will help promote the two countries’ comprehensive cooperation.

Mai, in turn, emphasised that strengthening relations with the Hungarian National Assembly is an important part in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

Cooperation activities and experience sharing between the two NAs’ agencies will contribute to boosting the bilateral ties, she said, adding that based on the cooperation agreement signed by the two legislatures in 2008, the two sides should increase the exchange of high-level delegations.

When receiving Chairman of the Hungarian Workers’ Party Thurmer Gyula, Mai affirmed the CPV’s policy of maintaining relations with communist and workers’ parties over the world, expanding people-to-people diplomacy, and welcoming organisations and individuals who have goodwill towards Vietnam.

Thurmer Gyula vowed to continue efforts to promoting the image of Vietnamese land and people in his country.

On the same day, the Vietnamese official had a working session with leaders of Zalaegerszeg city where a statue of President Ho Chi Minh and a flower garden named after him are located.-VNA
