A flexible combination of domestic and foreign demand, well-trained human resources and specific target programmes are the best way to speed up Vietnam ’s IT development, said a government official.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan delivered the message at an exchange programme, organised on the sidelines of the World Information Technology Forum-2009 (WITFOR-2009) in Hanoi on Aug. 26.

A large number of Vietnamese government officials, representatives from major IT firms around the world and some 850 IT students attended the event.

Vietnam boasts a young, dynamic and skilled workforce and a majority of its students are industrious and intelligent, constituting a valuable human resource to meet the nation’s needs, he said.

Nhan, who doubles as Minister of Education and Training, said he hoped that young Vietnamese people would uphold their traditions and their strengths to make Vietnam richer and more civilised.

At the dialogue, the participants discussed a legal framework to facilitate equal development of management and IT, foreign experience in the area and measures to improve IT infrastructure and human resources./.
