Dien Bien contest helps popularise gender equality knowledge

A legal knowledge contest on gender equality and gender-based violence prevention and response was held in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien on December 1.

Dien Bien (VNA) - A legal knowledge contest on gender equality and gender-based violence prevention and response was held in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien on December 1.

The contest was jointly organised by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Vietnam and the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs.

It gathered five teams, representing the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs, the provincial Department of Justice, along with the public security divisions of Dien Bien district, Noong Luong commune of Dien Bien district, and Pa Khoang commune of Dien Bien Phu city.

The event aimed to raise public awareness, knowledge, and personal sense of responsibility towards exercising and protecting the rights of women, children, men, and other vulnerable groups in society, thus helping to promote gender equality and prevent gender-based violence.

After three rounds, organisers awarded the first prize to the team from the public security division of Dien Bien district./.
