Dien Bien (VNA) - Police in the northwestern border province of Dien Bien said on September 23 that local authorities had arrested two people for trafficking drugs.

Ly Thi Chu, born in 1967 and residing in Long Luong 1 village, Muong Phang commune, in Dien Bien district, was caught red-handed at 9.30 am on September 21 with seven bricks of heroin weighing 2.45 kilos and 6,000 methamphetamine pills weighing 588.5 grams.

Police seized the drugs as well as a motorbike and a mobile phone.

From their investigations, they also detained Giang Chu Po, born in 1977 and living in Tia Dinh 2 village, Tia Dinh commune, in Dien Bien Dong district, at midday on the same day.

Chu and Po told police they bought the drugs in the Vietnam-Laos border area and then trafficked them to other provinces./.
