Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Do Hoa Binh on Nov. 8 met with representatives of the Vietnamese community who will attend the first conference of overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in their home country.

Binh briefed the participants on the purpose and the activities scheduled for the event, which will be held in Hanoi from Nov. 20-23 by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.

The conference reflects the care and attention the Party and State give to overseas Vietnamese, in line with a Political Bureau resolution which considers them an integral part of the nation, he said.

The ambassador spoke of the embassy’s plans to organise economic and cultural activities in 2010 to celebrate 35 years of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Germany.

More than 80 delegates, including outstanding businesspeople, intellectuals, artists and students, will attend the conference, representing almost 100,000 overseas Vietnamese in Germany./.
