The new heads of Vietnamese representative agencies overseas hope to maintain close relations with local leaders and businesses in the southern provinces, particularly to update information on economic development policies.

At their talk in Ho Chi Minh City on April 25, Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada To Anh Dung said that it helps the diplomats access economic, trade, investment and market information in a number of southern provinces, such as Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Ben Tre, Soc Trang and Ca Mau.

The diplomats pledged to actively assist local leaders and businesses to implement promotion programmes both in and outside the country. Besides, they asked the authorities to improve their facilities and policies to lure foreign investment and develop their reputation.

Local leaders and businesses presented their requests and vowed to reform administrative procedures, and facilitate foreign investment to develop processing factories, high-tech farming and support industries.

At the event, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City ’s Planning and Investment Department Lu Thanh Phong asked the diplomats to boost promotion activities to attract foreign investors to the city’s preferential fields, including services, spearhead industries and infrastructure.

They need to support domestic businesses with information on investment laws as well as policies and fields in need of investment abroad, he added.
