Sixty-eight disadvantaged children who are being raised at Bo De pagoda, Hanoi have received gifts worth 27 million VND on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays.

The gifts were granted to the children by Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, who is also Vice Chairperson of the Sponsorship Council of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children on Feb. 4.

The same day, the fund presented 200 sets of gifts worth a total 60 million VND to 200 underprivileged children in Moc Nam commune, Duy Tien district in the northern province of Ha Nam.

Between Jan. 15-Feb. 10, the fund will grant Tet gifts worth over 19 billion VND to 41,000 disadvantaged children in 19 provinces and cities nationwide under the sponsorship of the Canadian Samaritan’s Purse.

Cities and provinces benefiting include Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Ha Noi, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen and Lang Son./.
