Disciplinary measures imposed on Dak Lak leaders for wrongdoings

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued decisions to impose disciplinary measures on the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak for their wrongdoings while performing their duties.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued decisions to impose disciplinary measures on the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak for their wrongdoings while performing their duties.

In Decision No. 1549/QD-TTG, dated December 12, the PM gave Pham Ngoc Nghi, Chairman of the Dak Lak People's Committee, a reprimand due to violations and shortcomings in his work, for which he had received disciplinary actions from the Party. The disciplinary measure takes effect from November 8, 2024 when the the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission issued a decision determining his violations.

In another decision, No. 1542/QD-TTG, issued on December 11, the PM also imposed a reprimand on Nguyen Tuan Ha, Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak People's Committee, due to violations and shortcomings in his work, in line with prior disciplinary actions by the Party. This disciplinary measure also take effect from November 8, 2024.

On October 28 and 29, 2024, the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission held its 49th session in Hanoi, during which it reviewed and proposed disciplinary actions for several Party organisations and members found to have violated Party regulations, including these two officials.

In this session, the commission found that the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the provincial People’s Committee in the 2016-2021 and 2021-2026 tenures violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations, failed to fulfil its responsibilities, and neglected leadership and management. This allowed the provincial People’s Committee and several organisations and individuals to commit violations of Party regulations and State laws in some projects, including the construction of a section of the Ho Chi Minh Road bypassing the east of Buon Ma Thuot city and in some solar and wind power projects. Meanwhile, some key provincial officials violated Party regulations and State laws regarding the fight against corruption and negative phenomenon, broke the regulations on things that Party members are not allowed to do, and failed to set an example.

Nghi, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and Ha, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Deputy Secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, among others, must bear personal responsibilities for these wrongdoings, the commission said.

Based on the nature, extent, consequences, and causes of the violations, the commission decided to impose reprimands as disciplinary actions on Nghi and Ha./.
