More than 40 medical and pharmaceutical lecturers, doctors, and postgraduates from hospitals in the central provinces and Ho Chi Minh City gathered at an international training workshop in the central city of Hue from July 13-16.

The workshop, part of a cooperative programme between the French Embassy in Vietnam and the Hue Central Hospital (HCH), aimed at providing participants with clinical research methodologies and how to write for international medical journals and magazines.

Prof. Francois Lacaine, Vice President of the French Society of Digestive Surgery and Editor in chief of Journal de Chirurgie François Lacaine, and Prof. Abe Fingerhut, President of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery gave lectures at the workshop.

According to HCH Deputy Director Pham Nhu Hiep, medical reviews and magazines are the means for scientists to convey information on the field. All the papers are presented in a specific structure that requests all authors to follow.

He expressed his hope that after the workshop, the Vietnamese scientists will master writing skills to produce valuable scientific research which will be posted on the world’s prestigious medical magazines.-VNA
