Two documentaries relating to the legendary Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail are being shown in parallel on HCM City Television (HTV).

The first episode was screened on July 25 evening at 9.10pm.

The Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail is the line used to channel weapons, supplies and people from North Vietnam to the south during the American War.

The eight and 20 episode documentaries, named Ky Tich Duong Ho Chi Minh Tren Bien (Epics on Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail) have been produced by HTV and the Vietnam People's Navy to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail that falls on October 23.

The documentaries, directed by To Hong Hai, Huu Ly and Quang Tri, tell the stories of brave soldiers who made hundreds of secret trips by sea to carry ammunitions and supplies to the south.

The first documentary's debut episode, Ky Uc Ve Doan Tau Khong So (Memories of Unnumbered Ships), broadcast on HTV9 on July 25, showed the opening of sea route of the legendary trail.

Subsequent episodes will continue to present documents on secret sea trips made by soldiers who disguised themselves as fishermen to transport and receive supplies to the south.

While the first documentary provides documentation and images relating to the sea trail, the second recalls memories of the route by visiting war veterans and old wharfs where soldiers in the south received supplies from the north.

The veterans who took part in several trips on the sea route include Phan Vinh, Nguyen Van Hieu and poet Khuong Ngoc Bay .

The documentary directors said the visits to old wharves and the tales of old local fishermen will help viewers understand more about the hazards faced and hardships undergone by the soldiers during the American War.

The first episode of the second documentary will be aired today on HTV7 at 10.40pm.

The first documentary will be aired once a week, while three episodes of the second will be aired each week. /.
