The southern province of Dong Nai attracted around 1 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) as of October 15, exceeding its annual target, according to the provincial Planning and Investment Department.

The province licensed 68 new projects with total registered capital of 408 million USD, while 61 existing projects were allowed to add a combined 609 million USD.

In the first ten months of this year, FDI disbursement reached 800 million USD.

Labour-intensive projects have been gradually replaced by those using high-technology needing less human power and with fewer impacts on the environment, as a result of a shift in the province’s investment attraction policy.

To date, the province has licensed 1,370 projects with total registered capital of over 23.7 billion USD, whilst 1,056 valid projects have registered capital of over 19 billion USD. Cumulative fund disbursement was 13 billion USD as of October 15, accounting for 68 percent of registered capital of valid projects.

Dong Nai has attracted investors from 40 nations and territories around the world. Taiwan (China) leads, followed by the Republic of Korea , and Japan in third position.-VNA
