Dong Nai (VNA) - Police in the southern province of Dong Nai have taken a local woman into custody and officially launched an investigation into her alleged involvement in activities aimed at overthrowing the administration.

The force announced on April 8 that their initial investigation found out that in early 2018, Luong Thi Thu Hien (born in 1968 and living in Quang Trung commune, Thong Nhat district) learned via Facebook  about the so-called “Chinh phu quoc gia Viet Nam lam thoi” (Provisional National Government of Vietnam) which in fact is a reactionary and terrorist organisation led by Dao Minh Quan in the US.

She later got acquainted with members of the organisation and took part in its activities.

Hien frequently posted and shared stories and images distorting history, defaming late President Ho Chi Minh, and calling for the overthrow of the Communist Party of Vietnam. She also received money from the organisation and supported Dao Minh Quan’s return to the country to build the so-called “Third Republic of Vietnam”.

Hien was involved in subversive acts under the direction of the organisation, introduced other people to the organisation, and was appointed representative of the “Provisional National Government of Vietnam” in Districts 4, 5, and 6 in HCM City, according to Dong Nai police.

Police said Hien’s acts are in serious violation of Vietnamese law. Though authorities regularly warned her over her behaviour, she continued to commit wrongdoings with increasingly sophisticated ruses.

Local police therefore decided to detain her and launch an investigation./.
