So far this year the southern province of Dong Nai has licensed 29 new foreign invested projects and 38 other existing projects for additional investment, with a combined capital of 2.78 billion USD.

The provincial Service for Planning and Investment said that the last 11 months have seen the highest level of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the province so far.

Investments licensed during the reviewed period represent an increase of 6.7 percent year on year and 39 percent over the yearly target.

Early November was marked with the licensing of a 2 billion USD project from the Malaysian Berjaya Group, the biggest of its kind so far in Ho Chi Minh City’s neighbouring province.

As a result, Dong Nai is now home to 978 FDI projects with a combined investment of 17.56 billion USD, providing jobs for almost 400,000 local workers.

The province’s private sector also enjoyed a surge in November with the establishment of almost 1,980 new businesses, capitalised at over 10.31 trillion VND (roughly 536.18 million USD), or 20.89 percent over the yearly plan.

The province has so far authorised over 9,900 private businesses with a total investment of more than 61 trillion VND (roughly 3.17 billion USD)./.
