Dong Nai promotes FDI attraction

The southeastern province of Dong Nai attracted 950.78 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first 11 months of this year, a year-on-year rise of over 75 percent, said the deputy head of the Dong Nai industrial zones’ management board.

The figure includes more than 867 million USD of additional capital for 55 existing projects and 82.9 million USD for 32 newly-licensed projects.

Director of the Dong Nai Planning and Investment Service Bo Ngoc Thu said that the service sector now accounts for only 5 percent of the province’s total projects with the majority of projects belonging to supporting industry and machinery manufacturering.

The number of projects employing large workforces has fallen while hi-tech projects are on the increase, said Thu.

The total amount of newly-registered and additional capital is estimated at more than 1.5 billion USD and disbursed capital will amount to 800 million USD this year, said Thu, adding that the province will have nearly 980 FDI businesses with a total registered capital of 18.68 billion USD this year./.
