A bio-technology company based in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Nai, Donatechno, has shipped its first batch of 15 tonnes of durians to the United States.

The Dona durian, derived from the Thai Mongthon variety, yields high-quality fruit with an attractive appearance and is favoured by customers.

The company has invested 3 billion VND (176,470 USD) in building a freezing system in Long Khanh town with preserving capacity of 300 tonnes of fruit per day.

It has also built three centres to provide seed fruit of different varieties to farmers in Dong Nai, Lam Dong and Dak Lak provinces.

In 2008, Donatechno exported 20 tonnes of durians to Shenzhen, China./.
