The southern province of Dong Nai will spend 275 billion VND (13.1 million USD) between now and 2020 on helping people with disabilities better their own lives, an official has said.
Director of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Thi My Phuong added that Dong Nai has more than 154,000 people with disabilities, accounting for 5.6 percent of the province’s population.
During the period, it plans to deliver more assistance to the target group, such as conducting early orthopaedic surgeries, providing assistive devices, improving access to education and creating jobs, she noted.
From 2007 to 2012, more than 16,000 people with disabilities in Dong Nai received vocational training and found jobs thanks to the help of authorised agencies and social organisations. Around 5,000 of them was supported with assistive devices and rehabilitation aid.-VNA
