Dong Nai to suspend firms without wastewater monitoring systems hinh anh 1

Dong Nai (VNA) – Large firms without automatic monitoring systems will be suspended, said Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dong Nai province Vo Van Chanh on May 31.

He made the remarks at a conference to review the management of local monitoring systems in the southern province of Dong Nai.

According to the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, industries in the province discharge more than 300,000 cu m of wastewater per day.

Dong Nai has 26 automatic monitoring systems at local industrial parks and businesses that produce a large amount of wastewater. Data collected from the systems every 5-10 minutes is sent to a control centre at the department.

The monitoring systems have helped the province monitor the sources of wastewater, Chanh said, adding that pollution hotspots like the Thi Vai River and the lower section of the Dong Nai River have become safer.

About ten firms that discharge more than 1,000 cu m of wastewater per day had not yet installed a wastewater monitoring system by the end of May, he noted, requesting these companies fulfill the obligation before September 30.-VNA
