The southern province Dong Thap is drawing a plan to cooperate with Japan’s Ibaraki prefecture agricultural development.

Dong Thap is currently taking the lead in agricultural restructuring by 2020, while Ibaraki has the second highest output of agricultural products in Japan, applying state-of-the-art technology effectively.

Based on the two sides’ strengths, Dong Thap is promoting cooperation with the Japanese locality in export fruit, flower and vegetable cultivation, packaging, preserving and processing fruits, mechanised rice production and personal training.

Boosting cooperation with Japan will help Dong Thap modernise its agricultural sector and link production and consumption.

The province is seeking Japanese help in improving the capacity of cooperatives as well as speeding up agricultural labour export to Japan.

On October 6, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat held a working session with the Governor of Japan’s Ibaraki prefecture Hashimoto Masaru to discuss agricultural collaboration, with a focus on technology.-VNA
