Donors pledge 790 mln USD to climate change mitigation

International organisations and several countries have pledged 790 million USD to Vietnam to cope with climate change.

The commitment was made at a recent conference on science-technologyfor climate change adaptation and mitigation, said Tran Minh Ha fromthe Office of the National Target Programme to Respond to ClimateChange.

Of the total funding, 250 million USD will come from the CleanTechnology Fund of the World Bank and the remaining will be provided bythe governments of Denmark, France and Japan./.

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.

Hundreds of trees planted in Cuc Phuong National Park as part of Forestival

Renowned artists including Ha Anh Tuan, Den Vau, and Phan Manh Quynh, along with many directors and attendees, took part in planting hundreds of rare tree species such as mun (Diospyros mun) and cho chi (Parashorea chinensis) in the Thung Bong area of the Cuc Phuong National Park, contributing to forest ecosystem restoration.
