The VN-Index rose by 1.32 per cent to close the day's trading at 492.69 points on sluggish trades of 40.9 million shares, totalling 1.3 trillionVND (68.4 million USD).

Among 234 listed stocks in the southern market, 193 registered gains, of which penny stocks achieved prosperous increases.

Meanwhile, blue chips posted more declines than gains, with Sacombank (STB) down 0.48 percent, Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) down 0.68 percent and Eximbank (EIB) down 0.51 percent. Sai Gon Securities Inc (SSI), despite posting the fall, saw the most activity, with trades of 1.76 million shares.

In Hanoi, the HNX-Index treaded water with an advance of 2.30 per cent to 159.48 points. Values of day trades remained lower than 1 trillion VND at 958.7 billion VND (50.4 million USD), on a total volume of 32.05 million shares. PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) reclaimed its spot as the most active, responsible for 4.4 million shares.

Foreign investors continued as good assistants for local market moves by being net-buyers in both stock exchanges, with net buys of 902,000 shares. Vincom (VIC) and Hau Giang Pharmaceuticals (DHG) were among the most favourable in this sector in HCM City, while PetroVietnam Technical Services (PVS) and Kim Long Securities (KLS) received foreigners' attention in the north./.
