The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has accepted the Republic of Korea 's proposal to hold talks this week.

On the agenda are discussions of humanitarian issues, including reunions of separated families, and Imjin river flood prevention, said the RoK’s Unification Ministry on Oct. 13.

A day earlier, the RoK sent two letters to the DPRK. The first letter, signed by the RoK's Land and Transport Minister Chung Jong-hwan, was delivered to Pak Song-nam, Minister of the DPRK's Ministry of Land and Environmental Conservation. It proposed working-level talks on Oct. 14 at the DPRK border city of Kaesong to discuss ways to prevent flooding on the Imjin river that runs along the inter-Korean border.

Another letter was sent by head of the RoK's National Red Cross Yoo Chong-ha to his DPRK counterpart Jang Jae-on, proposing holding talks on Oct. 16 at the Mount Kumgang resort on resuming reunions of families separated by the 1950-1953 Korean War./.
