The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) is ready to resume stalled six-party talks without preconditions.

The statement was made by DPRK leader Kim Jong Il at a meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev held at a military base in the Sosnovy Bor village, some 50 km from Ulan-Ude, capital of Russia's Buryatia republic on Aug. 24.

The two leaders sought solutions to the DPRK’s debts to the former Soviet Union .
They also reached consensus on an energy project to build a gas pipeline from Russia to the Republic of Korea (RoK) via the DPRK.

In the first half of this year, two-way trade between the DPRK and Russia reached 25.3 million USD, of which Russia exported 19.1 million USD worth of goods to the DPRK and imported 6.2 million USD from this country./.
