A delegation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) led by Minister of Foreign Trade Ri Ryong-nam visited the northern province of Ha Nam on October 29 to inquire into possible investment cooperation opportunities.

The visit is aimed to seek business partners and foster friendship between the two countries, said the minister during a meeting with Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Mai Tien Dung.

Dung briefed his guests with an overview of the province’s socio-economic development in recent years.

Ha Nam has seen high annual growth rates, averaging over 13 percent, from 2011 to 2015. Annual per capita income reaches 2,100 USD.
The proportion of industry-construction and services in the province hovers around 59 percent and 29.5 percent, respectively, while that of agriculture is only 11.5 percent.

Currently, investors from nine countries and territories are investing in the province.

Ha Nam is compiling a list of projects calling for domestic and foreign investment, focusing on high-tech agriculture, trade-services, healthcare, education and vocational training.

As part of his trip to Ha Nam, Ri Ryong-nam also visited the Dong Van industrial park and the Number One beverage factory.

He said the DPRK will collaborate closely with Ha Nam province to promote investment in several realms of its strength.-VNA
