The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on May 21 warned it will react strongly to any retaliation from the Republic of Korea (RoK) for the sinking of the warship Cheonan in March.

Pyongyang was ready to completely abrogate all of its agreements signed with the RoK and freeze the inter-Korean relations, a spokesperson of the
Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said.

The spokesperson dismissed the investigation results as “sheer fabrication” and declared the two nations are on the brink of a war. The RoK only showed debris whose origin remains unknown as evidence.

The announcement of the investigation results is Seoul 's another move to tighten "sanctions" against the Pyongyang , according to the committee.

A day earlier, the DPRK also rejected Seoul ’s accusation that the warship was sunk as a result of an external underwater explosion caused by a torpedo fired by a DPRK submarine.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted a spokesman of the DPRK National Defence Commission as saying the RoK’s conclusion was a “fabrication” and Pyongyang will send inspectors to the RoK to verify the results of the investigations.

Meanwhile, RoK President Lee Myung-bak said that the government’s countermeasures against Pyongyang 's torpedo attack should be made prudently and without mistake.

The incident is "serious and significant," Lee told an emergency meeting of his National Security Council (NSC) earlier May 21 to discuss follow-up measures to deal with the Cheonan incident./.
