The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has decided not to send its women’s football team to the East Asian Football Championship, which is scheduled to take place in February in Tokyo, Japan.
The decision was made one week after Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary, Hirofumi Hirano, announced that his country has will allow the DPRK’s female footballers to join the tournament as an exemption of its current embargo on the DPRK.
The DPRK is scheduled to play China, the Republic of Korea and Japan at the upcoming championship.
However, the country failed to apply for visas into Japan for its players by the deadline of January 8./.
