Dragon and lion dance teams will vie for gold and silver medals that will be awarded at the AIG.

Coach-cum-performer Luu Hoan Phi, said: “The [national] team is ready and will try to get a gold medal in the Northern Lion dance.”


The 31-year-old coach, who has practised the sport since he was six, also said that the team hopes to win a silver medal in the dragon event.

The team, which has 34 members, has practised for six months and is competing in all three events – Dragon, Northern Lion and Southern Lion dances.


The compulsory exercise component of the Northern Lion dance fetched Vietnam a bronze medal at the second AIG in Macau , China . The team finished fourth in Southern Lion dance’s compulsory exercise and optional exercise events.

The dragon and lion dance competitions will take place from November 2-4 at the Nguyen Du Gymnasium in HCM City./.
