Border guards in the central province of Thanh Hoa on May 8 said they have uncovered two drug trafficking cases in areas bordering Laos in recent days.

On May 7, police and soldiers of the Pu Nhi Border Guards Post arrested An Tuan Anh, born in 1994, from Thanh Hoa’s Thach Quang commune, for trafficking 100 grams of heroin and 10 grams of opium from Laos to Vietnam.

Anh confessed that he was hired to buy the contraband in Kham Nang village, Laos ’ Hua Phan province, and deliver them to Vietnam.

On May 2, Nguyen Van Niem, 30, from Thach Tan commune was captured transporting 100 grams of heroin and two synthetic pills.

Authorised agencies are further investigating the cases.-VNA
