The Dung Quat oil refinery’s most important unit, the residue fluid continuous cracking (RFCC) unit, started operation in the early morning on June 24, one day ahead of schedule.

According to General Director of the Binh Son Oil Refinery One-member Limited Liability Company, Nguyen Hoai Giang, the unit is operating at 70 percent of its capacity.

As of June 25, the unit produced liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), diluted crude oil (DCO), light cycle oil (LCO) and petrol, reaching an average capacity of 90 cu. m of LPG per hour (equivalent to 2,160 cu. m per day) and 270 cu. m of petrol per hour (6,480 cu. m per day).

The successful operation of the RFCC unit is an important step to prepare for putting the plant into full operation on August 25 and for the final hand-over on October 25.

Together with the RFCC, the crude distillation unit (CDU) has reached 70 percent of its capacity.

By the end of June, Dung Quat oil refinery will produce and sell LPG, unleaded A92 petrol, diesel and kerosene/Jet A1 fuel to the market.

The plant is also scheduled to import 480,000 tonnes more crude oil in July for trial run./.
