Violinist Nguyen My Huong and pianist Dao Trong Tuyen will perform in a concert on October 21 to commemorate the 245th birthday of composer Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Hanoi Goethe Institute will host two performances on October 21 and October 24 evenings. Each one features Sonata No 7 in C minor, opus 30; and Sonata No 10 in G major, opus 96.

Huong and Tuyen will perform concerts until the end of this year to celebrate this anniversary.

They will perform Sonata No 1, No 3, No 5, No 6 and No 9 on November 7 and 8 and December 3.

Beethoven has brought the Classical form to its highest level and is considered a pioneer of Romanticism.

With his sonatas for violin, composed between 1797 and 1812, he was following his role model Mozart, who recognised the violin as an equal partner for the piano for the first time.

Violinist Huong graduated from the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria. She has performed and had masterclasses in Japan, China, Germany, Austria and the US. Currently she is a soloist and teaches violin at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

Pianist Tuyen completed his Doctorate of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Montreal in Canada. He won first prize in the national piano competition in 1990 and he has performed in Canada, France and Japan.

At present, he also teaches at the Vietnam National Academy of Music Piano Department.

Free tickets for the concerts are available from now at the Hanoi Goethe Institute, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hanoi.-VNA
