A 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit the China’s Sichuan province, killing at least one person, injuring 11 others and collapsing more than 100 houses on Jan.31

Its epicentre located near Suining City, about 140km from Chengdu city to the east. This area is not prone to earthquake and has recorded only three minor quakes measuring 2.0 on the richter scale over the past 20 years, the local authorities said.

Currently, seismologists are still not sure if the quake on Jan.31 was an aftershock of the 8.0 magnitude quake in Sichuan on May 12, 2008, which left about 87,000 people dead or missing, according to China’s Xinhua news agency./.
