European parliamentarians emphasised the importance of ensuring maritime security, safety and freedom in the East Sea, wishing the parties involved would respond on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
They also urged ASEAN and China to establish a Code of Conduct in the East Sea to ensure peace, security and stability in the region.-VNA
