The Thai Public Health Ministry plans to declare Ebola as the sixth most dangerous communicable disease in the country in an effort to control the virus from spreading in both human and animal, an official from the ministry was quoted by MCOT online news as saying.
Five dangerous communicable diseases already declared in the Dangerous Communicable Disease Act in Thailand include cholera, smallpox, yellow fever, bubonic plague, and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
The naming of Ebola in the list is to pave the way for ministry officials to contain the disease in both human and animal, Permanent Secretary for Public Health, Dr. Narong Sahametapat, explained.
The deadly disease was now found in three West African countries – Guinea , Liberia and Sierra Leone . A total of 1,440 patients have been diagnosed, of whom 887 have died.-VNA
