A conference with the theme ‘Export opportunities to APEC and African markets through e-commerce’ was held in the southern province of Dong Nai on July 20, with over 100 businesses in Dong Nai and nearly provinces taking part.

Hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Dong Nai provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the conference is to inform import-export enterprises about doing business by e-commerce so they can expand their markets.

Le Van Loi, from the VCCI, said that 96 percent of Vietnamese businesses are small- and medium-sized enterprises and most have limited opportunities for using in e-commerce in their business transactions.

According to economic experts, by using e-commerce, enterprises are able to easily access new markets and customers. They said that businesses should replace their traditional business format with online trading to reduce transaction times and costs.

VCCI is currently carrying out a project to help businesses promote their exports during the economic crisis by creating online trading channels to connect Vietnamese businesses with potential partners in APEC and the African markets.

During the event, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade answered queries from delegates and demonstrated how to successfully access foreign markets.-VNA
