Eight female entrepreneurs of Vietnam have just been presented the Mekong Women's Entrepreneurship Challenge Awards by the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
According to Dien dan Doanh nghiep (Business Forum) magazine, the prizes, worth 2,000 USD each, were awarded to the women entrepreneurs in acknowledgement of their success in business and their application of initiatives and advanced technology in production to increase productivity.
Two special awards including a 7,000 USD trip each to attend the 5th Global Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in South Africa , were granted to Dang Thi Thanh Van, Director of the Savycom JSC and Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, General Director of Vinastone Joint Venture Company.
The Mekong Women's Entrepreneurship Challenge Awards organised by the Emerging Markets Consulting Organisation (EMCO) aims at encouraging initiatives and growth in women-owned enterprises in the Mekong region.
The award has been carried out in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. In Vietnam, the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council was chosen to introduce this programme to women entrepreneurs.
Also at the award ceremony, the “Women’s Creative Day 2013” programme was launched by the World Bank to encourage Vietnamese women in enhancing economic capacity.-VNA
