Electricity rate-hike talk sours shares

Trading value continued modest, at 1.5 trillion VND ( 81.1 million USD), with a volume of 32.9 million shares.

Refrigeration Electrical Engineering (REE) was the most active share on the day, with 1.8 million traded, buoyed by Jan.27’s announcement of solid earnings in 2009 of 1.17 trillion VND, and a profit of 488.2 billion VND (26.4 million USD) on the year.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also closed off 2.76 percent to 160.9. The value of the day’s trades reached 600.3 billion VND (32.4 million USD) on a volume of 18.5 million shares.

Kim Long Securities (KLS) returned to its spot as the most active share on the northern bourse, with 2.9 million traded./.
