Enhanced cold spell to bring rains to northern Vietnam

Rains are expected in some parts of the north of Vietnam on December 9, with the delta and coastal areas likely to see scattered light rainfall, as a result of a strengthened cold spell, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Hanoi (VNA) – Rains are expected in some parts of the north of Vietnam on December 9, with the delta and coastal areas likely to see scattered light rainfall, as a result of a strengthened cold spell, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Areas from north-central Thanh Hoa to south-central Khanh Hoa provinces are forecast to be struck by torrential rains and thunderstorms caused by high winds from the East.

The cold spell has gripped the Northeastern and North-central regions since early morning of the day, lowering the temperature to 13 – 16 degrees Celsius. Temperatures can even drop to below 10 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas.

Due to the cold snap, the Northwestern region were also covered with fog and haze in the early morning. It is expected to experience biting cold weather with temperatures falling to below 10 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas and 11 – 14 degrees Celsius in others at the lowest in the morning and at night./.
