Ambassador of Thailand to Vietnam Anuson Chinvanno donated several items to the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (VNME) on October 8 as a gift from Thailand’s Ministry of Culture.

They include masks, puppets, DVDs and books.

The masks were used in the Phi ta khon palanquin procession ceremony in Thailand ’s northeastern region of Isan. In this ceremony, people honoured local spirits who protect them and pray for rain for the upcoming harvest.

“The gifts demonstrate Southeast Asian embassies and regional cultural institutions’ support for the museum,” said VNME Director Vo Quang Trong. “Such support will allow us to offer educational activities about Southeast Asia”.-VNA
