The European Union (EU) wants to hear Vietnam ’s opinions on specific fields for assistance, the EU Director General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion Koos Richelles made the statement at a press briefing in Hanoi on October 24.

About the EU – Vietnam development cooperation programme in the just signed Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, Richelles said the EU is preparing a new assistance programme for the 2014 – 2020 period.

The organisation will learn about the aid recipients’ socio-economic development goals to decide whether they qualify for the official development assistance.

Instead of providing assistance for individual projects, the EU will focus its aid on specific fields in the future after assessing the impact of their policies on the beneficiaries.-VNA
