The European Commission will provide 60,000 EUR from the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund to the Vietnam Red Cross for controlling hand-foot-mouth disease in the country, the European Union’s Delegation to Vietnam announced on August 16.

The assistance aimed to raise public awareness of the disease and encourage sanitation work to control and prevent the disease from spreading throughout the country.

The programme’s targets would include parents and caregivers who take care of children below the age of five, teachers and school children.

Activities will be implemented from August to November at 75 communes in Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Quang Ngai and Thanh Hoa./.
