The 5th European-Vietnamese documentary film festival opened in Hanoi on June 5. The event is an opportunity for Vietnamese and international documentary-makers to meet and exchange experiences.

The festival is organised by the Vietnam National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio and the European Union National Institutes for Culture. Eight European countries are attending the festival, including Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland and the UK.

The festival will screen films from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia and the Philippines for the first time this year.

Two documentaries will be shown each night – one from Vietnam and the second from Europe. They cover a wide range of topics and will show audiences life in the different countries.

The free festival will run in Hanoi until June 14, and in Ho Chi Minh City from June 10-29.-VNA
