The Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) is expected to generate 2,156 MW more for the national grid by year’s end, bringing the group’s supply to the network to 3,150 MW.

EVN also has a plan to start building 32 power plants and complete the construction of 49 power grids of 220-500 KV this year.

From now to the end of the year, the group will also begin receiving bids on a series of power projects: Mong Duong No.1 with a capacity of 1,000 MW; Nghi Son No1, 600 MW; Vinh Tan No2, 1,200 MW; and Duyen Hai No1, 1,200 MW, in order to begin their construction as soon as possible.

In the short-term, the group will sign an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build the Vinh Tan No.2 power plant in October and the Duyen Hai No1, in December.

It will also make a drive to finalise its investment reports on the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant and the Lai Chau hydro power plant, which will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval.

In the long-term, EVN is expected to invest in a series of other projects including thermo power plants Thai Binh No.1, O Mon No.3, and 4, and hydro power plants in Lai Chau and Trung Son.

Also, EVN continues carrying out projects to light up households in rural areas including the north-western province of Lai Chau , five Central Highlands provinces and two Mekong Delta provinces, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang.

The group has now ensured enough construction capital--nearly 52 trillion VND--for its electricity works scheduled to be built this year./.
