Hanoi (VNA) - Over the years, in addition to leading the political task implementation of ensuring power supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's daily life, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has always paid attention to directing the implementation of social security work.

This is the most practical action in expressing the deep gratitude of staff and employees of the power sector to the authorities and people who have provided a lot of support and assistance to the power projects throughout the country.

During the 2010 – 2019 period, EVN contributed and supported projects and well-performed many social security activities with a total value of nearly 960 billion VND.

Nearly 2 years ago, the country witnessed unprecedented natural disasters at the end of 2020 with consecutive floods and storms causing heavy loss of life and property for people in the central region. EVN realised that the most practical act of gratitude is to support people and power customers in areas affected by natural disasters, storms, and floods, contributing to sharing and stabilising the life soon. Therefore, Customer Gratitude Month 2020 was held with the special theme "Joining hands towards the people in the Central region affected by natural disasters, storms, and floods". The activities and events held in the Customer Gratitude Month 2020 were set by EVN to create cohesion and practicality and directly focused on supporting and helping the people who are customers in the central region to overcome their difficulties and stabilise production, business, and life activities soon.

In the past two years, although EVN has also faced many difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, in the spirit of actively sharing the difficulties of affected power customers of the COVID-19 pandemic and isolation facilities, medical facilities for the pandemic prevention and control, EVN promptly reported to the Prime Minister and ministries to allow the implementation of the electricity prices and electricity bills reduction for five times in 2020 and 2021 with a total amount of more than 16.95 billion VND.

Only for the COVID-19 pandemic from the end of April 2021 until now, the Group and its member units have contributed to donate and support pandemic prevention activities with a total amount of over 560 billion VND, of which EVN has donated 400 billion VND to COVID-19 vaccine fund, 24,000 computers with the corresponding amount of 60 billion VND for the programme "Waves and computers for children."

By taking specific actions in implementing social security for the community, joining hands to share difficulties with people during the pandemic, and supporting disadvantaged children with online learning devices in pandemic areas - an action with a profound educational spirit of love and social responsibility for all students.

EVN’s Party Committee and EVN have also well-implemented the teachings of the beloved Uncle Ho on mass mobilisation with practical and effective actions, contributing to building and promoting the professional, modern, friendly image of EVN; richly traditional and humanity EVN's culture; creative, dedicated, united EVN's people and always striving to well fulfill their tasks./.
