More than 500 books, 60 photos and several souvenirs of Vietnamese writers and foreign translators are being showcased at an exhibition that opened in Hanoi on January 5.

The exhibition, which is one of the activities held during an international conference on Vietnam ’s literature from January 5-10, provides international readers and researchers a better understanding about the history and values of Vietnamese culture and the exchange between Vietnamese literature and the world.

On display are several works of Vietnamese authors that have been translated into English, French and Slovak, including a collection of short stories entitled “Tiem may Sai Gon” (Saigon Tailor’s) by different writers, “Nhat ky trong tu” (Prison Diary) by President Ho Chi Minh, and “Bi vo” (Burglar) by Nguyen Hong.

Works by foreign authors such as Marc Levy of France and Atiq Rahimi of Afghanistan are also exhibited.

Poet Huu Thinh, President of the Vietnam Writers’ Association, said the exhibition reflects the process of literary exchange between Vietnam and the world as well as translators’ contributions to readers./.
