A number of advanced products and services supplied by leading domestic and overseas nuclear power companies are being showcased at the 5 th International Exhibition on Nuclear Power which got underway in Hanoi on October 25.

Organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, the exhibition has attracted nuclear power companies from Russia, the United States, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Japan and France, all of which are highly experienced in this field.

On display are a wide range of innovative products and services including site evaluation, consultation, survey, design, construction and human resources training.

The exhibition comes at a time when many governments that have nuclear power stations or are developing more are fully aware of nuclear safety issues and the measures needed to deal with emergencies. This is especially true in the wake of the Fukushima Daiichi crisis in Japan in March 2011, said the Deputy Minister for Science and Technology Tran Viet Thanh during the opening ceremony.

Vietnam is paying a lot of attention to choosing the right technologies, consultancies and contractors and is learning from foreign nuclear powered states, while the country prepares to build its first two nuclear power stations, Ninh Thuan No.1 and 2, with the priority firmly placed on safety, Thanh added.

The conference will conclude on October 27.-VNA
