Exhibition spotlights cultural heritage, landscapes, handicrafts of Vietnam

An exhibition on cultural heritage, scenic landscapes, and traditional handicrafts of Vietnam will take place in the northern province of Ninh Binh this December.

Hanoi (VNA) – Anexhibition on cultural heritage, scenic landscapes, and traditional handicraftsof Vietnam will take place in the northern province of Ninh Binh this December.

It will be held at theprovince’s gymnasium from December 17 to 24 and available online, at http://trienlamvhnt.vn and http://vhtt.ninhbinh.gov.vn, fromDecember 20 this year to February 28, 2022, according to the Ministry ofCulture, Sports and Tourism.

The event, part of theNational Tourism Year - Ninh Binh 2021, aims to introduce and honour thecultural heritage, relic sites and scenic landscapes, along with traditionalhandicrafts of Vietnam, thereby helping attract resources for developingtourism and promoting the country’s stature.

It will showcase photos ofthe UNESCO-recognised heritage and famous historical relic sites and landscapesacross the country, including terraced fields in the northwest, Ba Be Lake inBac Kan province, the Huong River and Ngu Mountain in Thua Thien-Hue province,and Tam Coc - Bich Dong in Ninh Binh. Visitors can also gain an insight into typicaldaily and cultural activities of people nationwide via the exhibited photos.

Nearly 200 outstandingproducts of traditional craft villages will also be displayed, including PhuDieu pottery (Hai Phong city); Dinh Cong silver items, Van Phuc silk, Dong Cuuembroidery, Phu Vinh bamboo and rattan products, Son Dong wood handicrafts, BatTrang pottery, and Chuong conical hats (Hanoi); Chu Dau pottery (Hai Duongprovince); Dong Xam silver products (Thai Binh province); and Thanh Tien paperflower (Thua Thien-Hue province).

About 200 sketches of thearchitectural and cultural structures, landscapes, people, and cuisine of Hue,the former capital of Vietnam (now Thua Thien-Hue province), will also bedisplayed. Besides, 30 traditional-style “ao dai” (traditional long dress) inspired by theroyal fine arts and sketches of Hue will form part of the exhibition.

During the event, exchangesand cultural programmes will be organised daily to introduce intangiblecultural heritage and folk arts such as the xam, ca tru, chau van, quan ho,then, and xoan singing, among others./.

Project on digital transformation in cultural sector approved

By 2030, the project targets the establishment of shared digital platforms across 100% of cultural sectors. All digitised cultural heritage will be standardised under the national data framework and shared in accordance with regulations, while 80% of public digital heritage assets are expected to receive digital identifiers to clarify ownership and management, encouraging organisations and individuals to do the same and support market development.
