The Vietnam Export-Import Bank (Eximbank) officially listed more than 876.2 million shares, a record number, on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) on Oct. 27.

With the move, Eximbank became the 205th firm which have listed shares on the southern bourse.

During the course of the first trading session, over 1.4 million shares, coded EIB, were traded at 29,000 VND (1.6 USD) each.

Eximbank was established in the early 1990s, making it the first commercial joint stock bank in Vietnam . The listing of its shares forms part of the bank’s strategy to grow into one of the country’s leading commercial banks.

The bank has an ownership capital of almost 14 trillion VND (786.5 million USD) and a chartered capital of 8.8 trillion VND (494 million USD). It has set up 124 transaction centres throughout Vietnam and 720 bank agents in 65 countries and territories around the world.

Eximbank reported a pre-tax profit of 1.16 trillion VND (65 million USD) in the first nine months of this year./.
