An expanded water supply system was put into use in Dong Xoai township of southern Binh Phuoc province on June 4, capable of producing 20,000 cubic metres of water a day.

Covering 4 hectares, the project includes water collecting, treating, and storing facilities along with 57,887 distributing pipes.

It was built by using technology of the Republic of Korea at a cost of 323 billion VND (14.77 million USD) loaned by the World Bank.

The plant will supply water for the five wards of Dong Xoai township, seven neighbouring communes, and the Bac Dong Phu Industrial Park, said Tran Xuan Hoang, Director of the system operator – Binh Phuoc Water Supply and Sewerage Co. Ltd.

If local water demand increases, the plant’s capacity will be raised to 40,000 cubic metres of water a day, ensuring water supply for daily and business use until 2030, he added.-VNA
