The remains of 24 volunteer Vietnamese soldiers who lost their livesduring wartime in Cambodia were laid to rest at the Vinh Hung districtcemetery in the southern province of Long An on July 24.
Since 2001, with the support from authorities of the Cambodianprovince of S’Vay Rieng, the Military Command of Long An has broughthome remains of more than 2,000 martyrs.
On July23, a ceremony was also held in the southern province of Binh Phuoc torebury remains of 66 soldiers who died during wartime in Cambodia or whowere earlier buried in other localities.
Of the total, there are remains of 58 volunteer soldiers who sacrificed in Cambodia’s Kratie and Kampong Thom provinces.
To date, 2,423 martyrs have rested in peace at cemeteries across Binh Phuoc.
Millions of Vietnamese soldiers laid down for the national liberationduring the two resistance wars against French and US forces as well asin international missions in Laos and Cambodia. Thousands of fallensoldiers are still unaccounted for across Vietnam and the twoneighbouring countries.
