Accordingto a news release issued last week, FAO is launching an ambitious newanti-hunger advocacy project to create a global movement to fight foradequate food for all.
Using a whistle as a campaign icon and aninnovative online petition as a campaigning tool, "The 1billionhungryproject" will give people the chance to express their disgust that inthe 21 st century more than one billion people still do not get enoughto eat.
The online petition calls upon governments to make the elimination of hunger their top priority.
"We should be extremely angry for the outrageous fact that that ourfellow human beings continue to suffer from hunger," said FAODirector-General Jacques Diouf.
"If you feel thesame way, I want you to voice that anger. All of you, rich and poor, young and old, in developing and developed countries, express your angerabout world hunger by adding your names to the global 1billion hungrypetition at http://www.1billionhungry.org," he said./.
