Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan hosted a reception for Belgian Ambassador Angelet Bruno in Hanoi on March 7.
Nhan expressed his delight at the comprehensive development of the two countries’ relations, especially in trade and investment.
Belgium is now Vietnam ’s sixth largest trade partner in Europe , with annual two-way trade topping 1.2 billion EUR (1.6 billion USD). The main traded products include chemicals, machinery, garments, footwear and agricultural products.
Belgian businesses have invested about 90 million EUR in projects in Vietnam in many spheres, including new ones such as waste treatment, environment sanitation and medical equipment.
The VFF leader said he hopes that Ambassador Bruno, in his position, will coordinate closely with the VFF to enhance the two countries’ friendship.
For his part, the diplomat expressed hope to cooperate with the VFF to strengthen mutual understanding between the two peoples, expand export activities and share experience in health and education.-VNA
